How to Send an Rx to Patients from Eka EMR Using Your Personal WhatsApp Number?

Managing post-consultation communication manually can take additional time during busy OPD hours. With EkaScribe Desktop App, doctors can directly send prescriptions (Rx) to patients on WhatsApp using their own personal or WhatsApp Business number.

Once enabled, the integration allows prescriptions generated inside Eka EMR to be automatically shared with patients after the consultation is completed. This helps reduce manual effort and creates a faster and smoother patient communication workflow.

The setup process only needs to be completed once and can be configured in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Enable WhatsApp on EkaScribe Desktop App

Before sending prescriptions through WhatsApp, the WhatsApp integration must first be enabled inside the EkaScribe Desktop App. Go to the Integrations section and connect your WhatsApp number by scanning the QR code from your phone. This connects your personal or WhatsApp Business account with EkaScribe.

Once connected successfully, EkaScribe will be able to send prescriptions directly through your linked WhatsApp number.

Step 2: Enable Auto Send for Eka EMR

After connecting WhatsApp, go to:

User Defaults → Desktop Widget

Inside the WhatsApp Auto Send section:

  • Enable Send via WhatsApp
  • Enable Allow Auto Send on Partner EMR/EHR

This setting allows prescriptions generated through Eka EMR consultations to be automatically shared with patients through WhatsApp.

You can also configure the rate limit settings based on your usage requirements.

Step 3: Start Visit and Create Prescription in Eka EMR

Once the setup is completed, open Eka EMR and start the patient visit as usual. Create the prescription during the consultation and review the final Rx before completing the visit.

After the prescription is ready, click Finish Prescription to complete the consultation workflow.

Step 4: Prescription Gets Sent on WhatsApp

Once the prescription is completed, EkaScribe automatically triggers WhatsApp sharing through connected personal number.

If sufficient Eka credits are available, the WhatsApp message containing the prescription link can be sent directly to the patient without any additional manual steps.

This helps doctors instantly share prescriptions with patients while continuing their consultation workflow without interruptions.

Benefits of Using WhatsApp Rx Sharing

With WhatsApp integration enabled, doctors can:

  • Send prescriptions directly after consultation
  • Use their own personal or WhatsApp Business number
  • Reduce manual sharing effort
  • Improve patient communication
  • Enable faster digital prescription delivery
  • Maintain a seamless EMR-to-patient workflow

This feature is especially useful for clinics looking to simplify prescription sharing while improving the overall patient experience.
